I kicked off the year with a pretty great reading month, and even kept up with my New Year's resolutions! I read every single day (except two, which I'm still counting as a win), made good progress on my reading across the world challenge (5 countries already!), and on the Disney Challenge (15 prompts have been completed). Out of the 10 reads of the month, three were "non-recreational" ones: one freelance proofreading of a non-fiction book, one proofreading for the indie press I work for: Hedone (which was one of the best readings of the month), and a short story I read for a course I'm currently taking (said course shall remain nameless because I'm absolutely hating it).
Although most of what read in January was a 3 Ink Bottles rating, the two that ranked five were such gems that I don't even have the words to describe them. MandÃbula in particular is one that I just know will be in my top ten books of 2024 and I'll be posting a full review for it in February. Speaking of full reviews, you might've seen that the one for Remainders of the Day is already up, if you haven't, that post will be linked to this one. I don't plan on writing reviews for any of the other books, except for The Laws of the Skies which may appear in a future DNF fest post.
